{"id":99405,"date":"2023-05-26T17:39:53","date_gmt":"2023-05-26T15:39:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/drone-normandie.com\/third-party-exclusion-zone-2\/"},"modified":"2023-05-26T17:39:53","modified_gmt":"2023-05-26T15:39:53","slug":"third-party-exclusion-zone-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drone-normandie.com\/en\/third-party-exclusion-zone-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Third-Party Exclusion Zone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When a remotely piloted aircraft is operating under scenarios S-1, S-2, or S-3, the operator must establish a third-party exclusion zone.<\/p>\n<p>This zone is used to keep people who are not involved in the mission away, to minimize the risks in the event of a crash or emergency landing.<\/p>\n<p>The operator must ensure that no third party enters the exclusion zones at any time during the flight.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Who can be considered a third party?<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nA third party is a person who is not directly involved in the mission. Under no circumstances may these third parties enter the exclusion zone. <\/p>\n<p>The following  <strong>are not considered third parties:<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8211; persons involved in flying the aircraft (the remote pilot)<br \/>\n&#8211; people involved in operating mission equipment (such as the cameraman)<br \/>\n&#8211; people isolated by a  <a href=\"https:\/\/drone-normandie.com\/en\/why-are-drone-safety-regulations-so-strict-2\/\">safety<\/a>  a device or structure that provides sufficient protection<br \/>\n&#8211; individuals directly involved in the specific activity who have signed  <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1P0zeyk7mpIardNv7xm_A2DxLoKlMJlWN\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a certificate (available by clicking here)<\/a>  stipulating that they have been informed of the emergency procedures established by the operator in the event of an in-flight incident involving the aircraft (this may be the case, for example, at a wedding: the guests being photographed are not part of the mission, but in order to be photographed, they must agree to have the drone fly over them and therefore sign a statement).<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Scenario S-1:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nIn the case of an aircraft used in Scenario S-1, the maximum third-party exclusion zone is a disk <strong>with a 30-meter radius<\/strong> centered on the aircraft&#8217;s projection on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>However, when the remote pilot has ground speed information, the 30-meter radius may be reduced<strong>(but never below 10 meters<\/strong>) if the remotely piloted aircraft is:<br \/>\n&#8211; an airship weighing &lt; 8 kg<br \/>\n&#8211; an aerodyne equipped with a third-party protection device (parachute) weighing \u2264 8 kg<br \/>\n&#8211; an aerodyne weighing \u2264 2 kg when used at a height \u2264 50 meters<\/p>\n<p>In this case, the radius of the circle defining the third-party exclusion zone must be calculated using the following formula:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"fr-fic fr-dib fr-fil\" src=\"https:\/\/files.cdn.thinkific.com\/file_uploads\/118798\/images\/7f0\/bb7\/6b8\/Formule_exclusion.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/files.cdn.thinkific.com\/file_uploads\/118798\/images\/7f0\/bb7\/6b8\/Formule_exclusion.png?width=1920 1x, https:\/\/files.cdn.thinkific.com\/file_uploads\/118798\/images\/7f0\/bb7\/6b8\/Formule_exclusion.png?width=1920&#038;dpr=2 2x, https:\/\/files.cdn.thinkific.com\/file_uploads\/118798\/images\/7f0\/bb7\/6b8\/Formule_exclusion.png?width=1920&#038;dpr=3 3x\">(source : <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/jo_pdf.do?id=JORFCONT000031679626\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JO n\u00b00298 du 24\/12\/2015<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>In practice, this formula is difficult to implement. If you need to know this (especially for the exam), the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecologie.gouv.fr\/sites\/default\/files\/Guide_categorie_Specifique_0.pdf\">Guide Drones: Guide Cat\u00e9gorie Sp\u00e9cifique<\/a> includes an appendix with tables listing R values based on the altitude and speed of the remotely piloted aircraft. These handy tables simplify mission planning. They are provided at the bottom of the page.   <\/p>\n<p>Note that, in the case of scenario S-1, it is possible to move the third-party exclusion zone at the same time the unmanned aircraft is moving! However, caution is required: in the event of a loss of radio connection, the device must be properly configured so that it does not leave the exclusion zone. <\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Scenario S-2:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nIn the case of an aircraft used in Scenario S-2, the minimum exclusion zone for third parties <strong>is an area\u2014fixed for the entire duration of the flight<\/strong>\u2014corresponding to the ground projection of the maximum flight volume <strong>plus a horizontal safety margin of 30 meters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the S-1, the exclusion zone cannot be moved at the same time as the remotely piloted aircraft.
