Pilots of remotely piloted aircraft must be aware of these regulations in order to prevent any incident or accident. <\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Types of air traffic:<\/u><\/strong><br\/>There are two types of air traffic:<br\/>&#8211; <strong>GAC: General Air Traffic<\/strong>, covering civil aircraft and some government aircraft<br\/>&#8211;<strong> CAM: Circulation A\u00e9rienne Militaire (military air traffic<\/strong>), which includes government aircraft and test flights.<\/p>\n<p>Civilian unmanned aircraft are not covered by CAM and will therefore not be discussed in this course.<\/p>\n<p> <strong><br\/>  <u>The different classes of airspace:<br\/><\/u><br\/><\/strong>Airspace is divided into different classes\u2014controlled or uncontrolled\u2014depending on the services provided:<br\/>&#8211; <strong>Controlled airspace:<\/strong> A, B, C, D, E<br\/>&#8211; <strong>Uncontrolled airspace:<\/strong> F (not used in France), G (most common)<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Flight rules:<\/u><\/strong><br\/>&#8211;<strong> <\/strong><strong>IFR: Instrument Flight Rules<\/strong>. It does not apply to remotely piloted aircraft, so it will not be covered in this course. This type of flight complies with <strong>IMC<\/strong>: Instrument Meteorological Conditions.<br\/>&#8211; <strong>VFR: Visual Flight Rules<\/strong>, in accordance with <strong>VMC<\/strong>: Visual Meteorological Conditions.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Visual<\/strong> <strong> Flight Rules (<\/strong> VFR) is the simplest, most unrestricted, and oldest way to fly, where you simply follow the basic rules of the air: See and Avoid.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To be able to fly under these conditions, VFR pilots must comply with visual meteorological conditions <strong>(VMC<\/strong>). These conditions are based on visibility and the distance from clouds that the pilot must maintain. They are summarized in the image below.  <br><strong>What we need to remember about CMVs:<\/strong><br\/>&#8211; <strong>Out of<\/strong> the clouds and within <strong>sight of<\/strong> the surface<br\/>&#8211; <strong>1,500-meter<\/strong> visibility (at speeds under 140 kt or 260 km\/h)<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"fr-fic fr-dii\" src=\"https:\/\/files.cdn.thinkific.com\/file_uploads\/118798\/images\/c4d\/153\/616\/1579855070983.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/files.cdn.thinkific.com\/file_uploads\/118798\/images\/c4d\/153\/616\/1579855070983.jpg?width=1920 1x, https:\/\/files.cdn.thinkific.com\/file_uploads\/118798\/images\/c4d\/153\/616\/1579855070983.jpg?width=1920&#038;dpr=2 2x, https:\/\/files.cdn.thinkific.com\/file_uploads\/118798\/images\/c4d\/153\/616\/1579855070983.jpg?width=1920&#038;dpr=3 3x\" width=\"602\" height=\"333\"><br><em>(Image under the <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-sa\/3.0\/deed.fr\">CC Attribution<\/a> license, author: <a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/User:PiRK\">PiRK<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Collision avoidance:<\/u><\/strong><br\/>Collision avoidance (where \u201ccollision\u201d is the aeronautical term for a collision between aircraft) is the responsibility of the pilot-in-command for manned aircraft and of <strong>the remote pilot<\/strong> for remotely piloted aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>The rule is simple: avoid flying too close to other aircraft and obstacles.<\/p>\n<p>In all cases,<strong> manned aircraft always have the right of way over unmanned aircraft. <\/strong> If avoidance is necessary, it must always be <strong>to the right<\/strong>. Similarly, if overtaking is necessary, it must always be done <strong>from the right<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Minimum flight altitudes:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under visual flight rules, the <u>minimum flying altitude for manned aircraft is <strong>150 meters (500 feet<\/strong>), which may be reduced to<strong> 50 meters (150 feet)<\/strong><\/u> for <u>forced-landing training flights<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>The Very Low Altitude Defense Network (VLADN):<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The RTBA is a set of interconnected restricted areas designed for training flights at very low altitude and very high speed.<br\/>The lateral and vertical limits of the RTBA&#8217;s various restricted areas, also known as &#8220;sections,&#8221; are defined in the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), Part ENR 5.1, which covers prohibited, restricted, and hazardous areas, available on the Service de l&#8217;Information A\u00e9ronautique (SIA) website at the following address: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr\/<\/a><br><u><strong>RTBA zones can be activated in all weather conditions and must be bypassed during activation periods.<\/strong><\/u> <br>Fighter aircraft generally operate in the RTBA in automatic terrain-following mode, known as &#8220;SDT Auto.&#8221;<br>Pilots are not responsible for avoiding collisions. Fighter speeds in the RTBA can exceed 500 Kt (~900 km\/h).
